Manitowoc’s visitor information is more accessible in-destination than ever before, with the installation of interactive visitor information kiosks across the city.
Visit Manitowoc’s modern marketing efforts focus on balancing new technology trends with practical solutions, which led to the highly-anticipated implementation of kiosks. These digital kiosks pull from Visit Manitowoc’s comprehensive database and website, allowing visitors and residents alike to scroll through things to do, events, restaurants, and places to stay. Users can have fun with the photobooth function to remember their trip. The map module allows visitors to see what is nearby them with an aerial overview and distance details for both walking and driving. Using the itinerary builder function, visitors can simply drag and drop places of interest into a schedule and then send a complete map and details right to a cell phone via text or email to guide their exploration through the city.
Four digital kiosks have been strategically placed in key, high-traffic locations around Manitowoc. There is one portable unit installed inside the Visit Manitowoc Visitor Information Center. This kiosk can be popped up at events, trade shows, and other businesses, like the S.S. Badger ticket office, throughout the year. Another kiosk is located on the exterior of the building to assist visitors after hours. The other two free standing kiosks were placed in the lobbies of Manitowoc’s two largest hotels, The Holiday Inn and The Inn on Maritime Bay.
“This project has been on the City’s mind for years. Our goal is that in the ever-changing visitor information landscape, Manitowoc is innovating to meet visitors where they are and providing information in the form they wish to consume it, when they want to consume it,” says Visit Manitowoc Director of Tourism, Courtney Hansen. “These interactive kiosks, which sync seamlessly with the existing systems we’ve built over the past two years, have already proven themselves to be a vital piece of our visitor engagement strategy.”
To check out the new visitor information kiosks yourself, stop by Visit Manitowoc’s Visitor Information Center at 824 S 8th Street or visit either The Holiday Inn or The Inn on Maritime Bay.
