Pumpkin Palooza is set to return to downtown Manitowoc for a second year on Wednesday, October 16 from 3 to 6 p.m. in Burger Boat Park.

Visit Manitowoc held the inaugural Pumpkin Palooza last year as a way to engage residents in decorating Manitowoc’s downtown for Halloween. Free and open to the public, this event is an early Halloween celebration that allows attendees to show their creativity carving and painting pumpkins, while supplies last. The decorated pumpkins are left behind to adorn downtown, particularly Burger Boat and Shipbuilders Park on both sides of the riverfront, through Halloween.

Participants can bring their own tools, and all minors should be accompanied by an adult. Limited tools, markers and paints will be available. There will be buckets and tables on site to assist with pumpkin gutting and carving. A tent will offer cover should there be inclement weather.

“Our first Pumpkin Palooza was so well received by both residents and visitors last year. Manitowoc is the perfect fall destination, and the display of over 100 festive jack-o-lanterns, paired with the beautiful mums that are planted in downtown planters, was a treat to many who were here in October to hike our trails, see fall foliage, or enjoy a seasonal craft brew,” said Courtney Hansen, Director of Tourism for Visit Manitowoc. “We look forward to continuing to grow this event in the years to come.”

Pumpkin Palooza attendees are encouraged to dress in costume to complete the party. There will also be festive music and treats to help set the Halloween mood. Go to Visit Manitowoc’s website for complete event details.

The combination of slippery pumpkins and sharp knives can be dangerous. Sharp tools should be kept in adult hands. The City will not be liable for injuries that may be sustained during this recreational activity. Attend at your own risk.
